Roussett

One Album

Bryan grew up in the Sonoran Desert in Southern Arizona.  A gemini, he finds the sun upsetting and the rain delightful. He grew up listening to his dad’s favorite music…wearing out tapes on camping trips to Mt. Lemmon…the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Creedence Clearwater, Chuck Berry, and Ricky Nelson. He now lives in the forests of Durham, NC.

Paul came to be on a quiet evening in Boston as summer had just turned into fall. As such, he has been ever attuned to the soft, crisp glow of the downslope of life. Reared on gospel and soul, captivated by fuzzed-out guitars, then fully formed on any beautiful noise that crossed his ears. "Life should be a gentle stroll," he says. "...never running from or to anything." Don't listen to anything he says. Listen to the music. Paul now resides in Pittsburg, PA.

To put it another way…

One sound was born in the dreams of a desert youth. Another was formed in the soul of a seaside adolescence. After years exploring the corners of their land they collided high up in the hills of a beautiful, forgotten American landscape. Much like those hills they never knew, but somehow felt like home, Roussett creates a sound you’ve never heard, yet is so familiar...as though your parents’ record collection was found on another planet and played through a celestial device you’ve never seen before...music for waking dreams.

We Might Just Do This All Day Orientation

Lyrics:

I been thinkin’, “Oh, my days...where do they come and go? Do I even know what’s near?” As I’m lying on the floor dreaming of a place, where there’s no time or space...just here. And I’m starin’ at the door. What’s on the other side? I can’t bear to hide no more. Empty out my head. Let go of nothingness to feel a little less, before I find myself in you. I’ve waited endlessly, but what will be will be ...always. Though I’ve never listened to sentimental thought[we might just do this all day] I don’t need a lot...no way. So let’s just spend the day forgetting everything.[we might just do this all day] We’re just living nice and slow. With nothing left to say, I’ll do what I can to speak in other manners. Oh!

What We Want Orientation

Lyrics:

Have you ever seen what I’ve seen laying under these dim lights? Have you ever turned on and off? I cannot recall. Darling, will you open my eyes to see all we have? I can never take what you want. I cannot lie. Oooooooh. I will never see what you’ve seen, even if I had your eyes. Have you ever turned 23 with no plan at all? I can never give you answers just like anybody else. I can’t even give you what you want. Won’t even try. Ooooooooh. You can’t even say I’m sorry. I can’t ever turn away. I won’t ever wish you waiting. What we want...we say. Nothing will ever make you happy, no matter how hard you try. If you don’t want to be happy, it’s no use at all. So why don’t we go find some answers inside all we are. Maybe we can be what we want. Oh oh oh ooh.
